AnnualCreditReport.com in the News
Eligibility for an annual free credit report is determined by your state of residence based on the rollout schedule set by federal law. A free credit report is currently available for residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. These states are in the December 1 rollout. The Midwest states will rollout March 1, 2005, Southern states begins June 1, 2005 and Easterns states on September 1 , 2005.

You are entitled to receive one free credit file disclosure every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies. If free credit reports are available in your state you can request a free annual credit report by phone ( 1-877-322-8228) and it will be mailed within 15 days. If online, you must enter your Social Security Number to receive a free credit report through AnnualCreditReport.com. The federal government created AnnualCreditReport.com in cooperation with the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union. Each bureau helps maintain the site and they furnish the credit reports. This effort is propelled by the increasing rise in identity theft and errors on credit reports. Hopefully, we as consumers can take advantage of this service. Good credit scores can mean lower interest rates for our purchases. In addition, spotting identity theft early will prevent wasted dollars and litigation time. The management at GreatWebInfo.com endorses these efforts to help consumers manage their credit.

The credit bureaus Equifax, Experian and Trans Union maintain credit files compiled from reports by creditors such as banks, mortgage lenders, and credit card companies.  The credit files in each bureau may be different because they do not share information. Mortgage companies will order credit reports from all three bureaus to get your complete credit history. Credit Scores such as FICO take into account your payment history, balances, etc. to determine your credit score.  Paying on time increases your score. Incorrect scores can increase your interest rate. While getting an annual credit report is helpful, a better way to monitor credit is through the Credit Check Monitoring Service. This service provides credit score tips, fraud alerts, and unlimited credit reports for the year. This will help you to stay on top of your credit. You can get your credit score with the Free Credit Report. Get your free credit report and upgrade to a three bureau credit report. "Your Best Value" Click Here Now for Your Credit Report and Score!
